Make Changes with the Three R's
About the Course
This course has been developed as a tool for trainee counsellors, qualified counsellors and for those who may feel stuck in their lives and wish to find an accessible way to identify and try to solve the issues that act as barriers for them.
The Three Rs of self-reflection are not designed to replace the need for therapy but indeed for some the process can help to identify to the participant when therapy is indicated.
For others the process is designed to improve our self-self relationship; that is to say the relationship that we have with ourselves. Discontent and imbalance in this relationship leads not only to unhappiness, anxiety and stress for the person concerned but as a result of their feelings, those around them will feel the brunt of their distress.

Benefits
For trainee counsellors the course is designed to provide an additional tool along with more classical theoretical training and skills based learning which they can initially apply to themselves in the form of personal development. Self-reflection is a vital part of training in any therapeutic path; it can easily be over looked by students who prefer to think that helping others is a way to ease their own personal pain without challenging its origins. In time the method can be applied to one’s own clients as appropriate.
For qualified counsellors and therapists again the course can be used as CPD (Continuing Professional Development) as well as for self-reflection. There are a plethora of theories, models and processes out there, some more academic or historic than others but this course has been designed to give a tool to the learner to understand and identify any obstacles that they feel are preventing them doing and being what they want to be. It is accessible, understandable and directional and can be used for many different scenarios as we will see as we go along. It can also be applied to clients who may not be able to see the underlying cause of their issues or indeed for those who feel that nothing can change for them, that this is their “lot” as it were.
For other people the course is designed to take them on a journey of self-exploration without a working knowledge of counselling theories and skills, this will be a personal journey. A journey in which you can discover the “real” you and identify all the things that hold you back whether they be negative thoughts, inherent attitudes or habitual behaviours. It may be the course that leads you to obtain relevant professional help or the course that leads you to discover a talent for working in the helping professions. It could enrich your relationships and change the way you see yourself and those around you.
