Catherine Zeta-Jones admitted for biopolar disorder

Catherine Zeta-Jones has been admitted into a mental health facility in order to deal with her bipolar disorder, also know as manic depression.

It is thought that the movie star entered the facility voluntarily, after recognising her symptoms. The news may come as no surprise to those close to her, as the actress has had a lot to deal with over the past 12 months.

Events such as husband Michael Douglas' throat cancer may have tipped Zeta-Jones over the edge; and a statement confirming her decision was released by her publicist.

As cited by Fox News, the publicist commented: "After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check into a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her Bipolar II disorder."

"She's feeling great and looking forward to starting work this week on her two upcoming films."

In order to continue feeling healthy and happy, Zeta-Jones could consider enrolling in online counselling courses, which would help her to keep recovering whilst working in locations all over the world.

This might be particularly pertinent as a friend of the star confirmed that Zeta-Jones would soon be back working hard. The source also told People Magazine how the last 12 months had been particularly hard; claiming: "There's no question it's been a stressful year."

"Catherine has had to deal with Michael's illness and that's been hard. She went in for a few days because she's about to start working, and wanted to make sure she's in top form, which she is."

Zeta-Jones should hopefully be on the road to recovery soon, joining husband Douglas in his recovery after six months of chemotherapy.
