Lovato admits to nervous breakdown

After a stint in rehab for an undisclosed condition, Demi Lovato has admitted the truth - that she had a nervous breakdown.

According to World Gleaner, the Disney sensation was the subject of an intervention by her parents - who were worried that their daughter was in trouble emotionally.

However it seems that Lovato has now gotten her life back on track after undergoing counselling courses; and is now ready to speak out about her ordeal, allowing her to warn others of the pressure to be perfect young people can sometimes face.

Speaking to Seventeen magazine, Lovato confirmed the news: "I basically had a nervous breakdown. I was really bad off."

"My parents and my manager pulled me aside and said 'You need to get some help'. It was an intervention."

The singer went on to say how she had been battling "inner demons," from which she needed "freedom," adding: "I just wanted to start my life over."

Lovato also added that she was eternally ungrateful for the support her fans had shown her throughout the tricky time; claiming: "I hope I can repay this and help other girls learn from my experiences."

"If you are ever going through that dark period, go to your family and closest friends. Don't put yourself in danger," the actress added, perhaps referring to the times when she admitted self-harming as a way to cope.

It is thought the singer has become stronger than ever after leaving rehab in January, and has even had a tattoo on her wrists of the words 'stay strong'.
