One-fifth of couples fight over homes
One-fifth (20 per cent) of British couples fight over issues as simple as how their home should be decorated.
A further 60 per cent said fights over decor issues were "one of the biggest causes of arguments between them."
The worrying news was confirmed by a study undertaken by Crown Paints, and cited by the Shropshire Star. It found that although 60 per cent of men said they'd happily compromise over such petty issues, only 40 per cent of females would do the same.
Also, only seven per cent of ladies said they'd keep their opinions regarding their spouse's decorating choices quiet; whereas 15 per cent of men said they would keep their mouths shut.
Although it seems like a simple thing to argue over, fights such as these could stem from an underlying resentment held by both or one of the involved parties. It can lead to bigger rows over bigger issues, and is something couples should try to nip in the bud before it gets out of hand.
Something that can help with this is online counselling courses. These allow couples to work through their issues at their own pace, without having to face a stranger, and from the comfort of their home - however it is decorated.
Crown Paint's survey results were also published on Blog.CrownPaint.co.uk; wherein it also revealed the little niggles that face many betrothed couples.
It found that 30 per cent of females were unhappy with their partner's DVD or games collections, and would remove them if they had the chance.
Furthermore, some 19 per cent of men would rather remove all photographic evidence of their mother and father-in-law from their houses.
