Imagine that a miracle occurs while you are sleeping and magically solves your problems, what specifically would be different for you when you wake up in the morning?

Of course, there are many variations on the miracle question, and different ways of working with it.

But whether you are using it for yourself, or within any form of therapy, the miracle question will enable you to focus on exactly what you want and how to achieve it.

Of course, the miracle question needs to be used carefully – it’s not appropriate for every circumstance or situation.

But we can use it imaginatively and creatively to connect with our deepest longings and dreams, and then focus on how to achieve them.

It’s a great technique within life coaching, solution-focussed therapy and any self-therapy.

So what would happen if you engaged with that miracle question for yourself right now?

Well, you might squirm a bit in your chair like me, perhaps.

Or you might seize an exciting moment to really build your dream.

Or you might struggle with seeing, feeling, hearing, sensing anything.

Why do we squirm?  Well, I can only speak for myself, and say that it takes time and effort to stop and really, really listen.

It might also be a real eye-opener and bring a sense of excitement, challenge and possibility to my life.

And as creative and imaginative as I am, I can’t always visualise something for myself without a bit of help in terms of a meditation exercise or working with a therapist or supervisor.

But, just sometimes, there are miracles in life.  And I think in today’s society if we can find our own miracle or be part of creating that for ourselves or someone else, then that’s a real life-giver and life-saver.

And I think a miracle would do wonders for all of us right now.
